Troubleshooting
Question: I have the “.ENC” tune files installed onto my SD card, but my Flash Console doesn’t show any options under “Load Tune” in the Tuning menu?
Answer: Make sure that you created a folder on the SD card named “transfer”. Right-click within the SD card, go to new, then new folder. Name the folder “transfer” accordingly and place the tunes WITHIN the “transfer” folder. Only files located in the transfer folder will be viewable on the Console.
This also applies when installing flash license, configuration files, or any other kind of file (OTHER THAN FIRMWARE) onto the Flash Console unit.
Question: I performed a firmware update, and now my “Tuning” menu has disappeared from my Flash Console.
Answer: Chances are, you used the “Check Web for Updates” button within the DashDAQ update tool. This button will only download firmware applicable for standard DashDAQ units. You’ll need to reinstall the correct firmware by downloading it from our website, then using ONLY the “Update Firmware” button of the update tool after selecting/highlighting your Flash Console within the list showing connected units in the update software. If you had a pre-loaded unit (higher than serial number 470) there is a chance that updating incorrectly also erased the tuning license. If you re-install the correct firmware and the tuning menu does not reappear, you’ll need to email us at 64calibrations@spartandieseltech with your name and unit serial number to obtain a new copy of your flash license.
Question: My Phalanx/DashDAQ won’t recognize my SD card.
Answer: First, make sure that you are installing the SD card with the unit totally unplugged from the vehicle or computer. If the card still isn’t recognized, it will need to be wiped clean and reformatted on your PC. In the event that neither method corrects the issue, either the SD card has failed (in which event any SD or MMC card will substitute as a replacement) or there is a hardware issue with the Flash Console itself. If you are having difficulties with this issue, please post in our troubleshooting forums or contact us via phone or email.
Question: When attempting to load a tune, the Flash Console displays “Error- Wrong Vehicle”.
Answer: This means that the tune you are attempting to load is matched to the incorrect vehicle VIN. Each tune is matched to a specific vehicle and are not cross-compatible. Please contact us to double-check the accuracy of the VIN you provided and obtain a new tune file.
