I've looked around here on this site and I havent read anything that actually give a good description on how to remove the Factory Pipe. I know that a lot of you have done this. Is there anyone out there who can tell me what needs to be done and the things to look out for?
Thanks

First let it cool down....its fucking HOT!!
Next I recommend un plugging the sensors, not taking them out yet, unplug them first, then get a good 13mm wrench and take the sensors out if you desire...I sort of recomment this cause the DPF is heavy, and I have seen folks bend the senors then they let the DPF down.
Now that the sensors are ouf of the way, use a 15mm to take the nuts off the pressed in bolts. Use a 15mm to loosen the clam on the filter back exhaust. Leave 3-4 of the nuts on that connect the DPF To the cat. Then take a ratchet strap and wrap it around the filter back exhaust and to something like maybe the axle....get this tight to pull the exhaust out of the DPF. Or a big block of wood and some pounding will work.
Take the other nuts off the DPF and set it on the ground. You will probably need to remove the 3 13mm nuts that are on the outside of the frame rail that hold the stock hanger on...remove the DPF and hanger in one piece.
If you are also replacing the cat at this time, Unplug the sensor, and go ahead and remove it with the 13mm line wrench, the stock bolts at the ball flange are 13mm, take those out now too. Then theres also a hanger on the cat, again remove the nuts on the outside of the frame rail I think theres 2 on this one.
Now remove the CAT and the hanger together.
Next just install your delete pipe, then install the sensors and plug them in.
Make sure you have all 3 probes installed and plugged in as well as the small vaccume line thats towards the front of the DPF....make sure this is all installed and plugged in BEFORE you start the truck...do NOT start the truck with the sensors unplugged!!!
Have fun!

It would also be wise to spray the sensors with something like PB Blaster, or Liquid Wrench, and let it soak for awhile. Others have also heated them to help get em out.

Thanks for the help. I was starting to wonder if doing the DPF Delete was going to be a mistake. I was also wondering about how long should this take to do? And does anyone regret doing it? Oh yeah and most important if something does happen where you need to take the truck to the shop for like an oil change can Ford detect that it has been removed and then put back on?

It should only take you about an hour to do it...its not hard.
I dont think any one regrets doing it...
I never put mine back on for an oil change, it has been in 2 times. But I did put mine on a few days ago to take it in for a problem, and it was easy to install. They never said anything about the DPF or the tuning.

X 2. A buddy and some beer would help. Nothing like an extra set of hands when you are on your back trying to line things up.

I have help 3 folks do theirs...and I have installed and removed mine by myself...I agree an extra set of hands is a good addition......BTW beer was included every time..be it with the extra hands or by myself...thats like a staple when doing mechanic work...hell I put the beer ahead of the tools.

it is good to have a little help when you take it out because it is heavy. i bout shit my shaps when i felt how heavy it was. i think the extra weight has as much to do with the bad milage as the restriction and regen.

Thanks for all the info. What kind of problem did your truck have? Regarding someone helping me remove the pipe I'm on my own, but it does look fairly easy. Would you recommend removing the pipe before I download the tunes?

I would do the hardware install and then tune it.

I could not get the sensor out. Went to Ford an bought a new one. Probably crazy. I soaked it for a long time. Used a line wrench and still could not remove it. Did not heat it. What is another $75.00!!
BTW: My truck runs incredible with the 210 tune. Debating about getting the 250, but I tow everyday with 6000 lbs. little nervous about that.

everyone says they tow with it and it is fine but i'm with you, i don't think i'll tow with even the 210. i think i'll load the 75 and have at it. i guess if you were really careful with it it would be fine but i'm never as careful as i should be.

Yes 3.73 rear end.
Mods are:
10" lift
38x15.50x20 tires
AFE intake
CAT/DPF delete
RBP Filter back exhaust
Spartan Tunes
Couple other interior, and ext cosmetic and electronic mods.
The problem I had was the fuel filters were clogged, so clogged that the truck would not start. Had nothing to do with the tunes.
I put the CAT and DPF back on, set the truck to stock tuning, took the AFE intake off but left the RBP exhaust on.

Has anyone had any problems with breaking the gasket or over tightening the bolts and cracking it?

After taking out the DPF Pipe has anyone noticed that the motor sounds louder?

I nticed that you mention to remove the sensors. There are 3 correct? I'm running into an issue because the dpf pipe looks like it only mounts 1 sensor and looks like its to short. Do you have a picture of what it should look like?
Thanks

I am looking for an easy in and out.
Is the cat and dpf delete any harder to remove/re-install than just the dpf delete? Are there any tale tale signs of tampering? I figure I will just buy new guages for the delete and not mess with the one in stock equip. Sounds like they are a little hard to get out.

Take a pic of the pipe you got... i have a feeling it doesnt delete the cat and that is why its short...

I agree...if theres only 1 sensor, and its short, and it has a big rouns part with bolt holes then its a DPF delete only, not the cat as well.
