I can't help but thinking all of the black smoke we are seeing is wasted unburnt fuel. Is there someone that actually designs these tunes that can let us know why they smoke so much? Other tuners claim that there non smoking trucks are due to efficient tunes.

Ex. Banks on my 6.0 would only smoke when I was running a big tune and abusing it and then it still wasn't much smoke. This truck running the 210 and 250 tunes smokes are half throttle like a freight train.

Banks claims it is clean because theirs is DPF on.

I was referring to the 6.0 with the banks 6 gun. If I was referring to the 6.4 with DPF I would truly be a dumb ass.

Sure, you can decrease smoke with added timing.....added timing will eventually begin wearing on internals like your pistons. These trucks are totally different than a 6.0....totally different fuel system. Common rail trucks smoke a lot more, which is why you see high horsepower Duramax and Cummins diesels smoking so much. ALSO, a 6.0L Power Stroke with a tuner isn't going to be much above 400 horsepower at the rear wheels. We are easily getting 500 horsepower out of these trucks with tuning. Banks couldn't get a 6.4 to 500 horsepower without smoking if their life depended on it. Banks won't even fool with DPF deletes. All I can tell you is either run lower tunes or put your DPF back on. The H&S Black Maxx and SCT Livewire with custom tuning all produce as much smoke as the Spartan tuner. Hell, invest in some bigger turbo's that will clean up the smoke. More air decreases smoke.

It just makes me nervous to see so much smoke out back when i am not really getting on it. If it is normal then it is fine. I do have to hand it to Spartan though. I am extremely pleased with how low my EGT's are towing. My old 6.0 would easily hang out around 1150. This truck pulling the same load with the 210 tune stays around 800 - 900. Much better

Have you checked your air cleaner lately! My truck wont smoke for more than just a sec or two even running the 310 tune.

Same here.. mine smokes just a little bit when i first take off but after the initial take off it clears up. Now if i romp on it thats a different story. Seriously though, you should have expected smoke with 500hp in your hands!
