Okay, so I finally loaded up the 250 tune and tried if for the first time this past weekend. I'm not used to the touchy throttle associated with the race tunes, so that was a little different, but I expected it from reading the posts on here; other than that, the tune is pretty wicked. Anyway, my question is about a noise that I'm hearing with this tune. It's a high pitched whine that sounds like an electric motor running wide open. It can be heard best when the truck is idling with the windows down. It's not really loud, but definitely noticable....my wife even asked me what it was and she is totally oblivious to most sounds coming from my truck. I dropped back to the 210 tune, and the noise went away...and I've never heard it on any of the other lower tunes. Is this noise normal with the 250 tune?

I have never heard any different noises with any tunes on my truck. Where is it coming from?

It seems most pronounced on the passenger side somewhere under the hood. I can hear it best when I'm backing in along side my house and the sound echos off of the house. It sounds about the same whether the truck is moving or stopped, and engaging/disengaging the clutch doesn't affect the noise either. I thought maybe I could be hearing turbo noise through my intake, but I would think I would hear it with the other tunes as well. Unless maybe the 250 tune causes the VGT to spool a little even at idle while the other tunes do not? The sound is very similar to that of an electric fuel pump, but louder....and once again, even if it is a fuel pump, why wouldn't I hear it with the other tunes (especially at idle)? The tune runs GREAT, so I don't think it's a tuning issue....I just want to find out if the noise is normal or if I should expect a component to fail soon.

Could need a fuel filter, I guess. But the truck has less than 8,000 miles on it and the 'water in fuel' message has never displayed, and the truck doesn't exhibit any of the usual fuel filter related symptoms. I also make it a point to only buy fuel at high volume stations or truck stops to minimize the chances of picking up water and dirt.

fuel filter would be the first thing i would try, eliminate the easy stuff first you can still get a piece of trash in there,i change the top one every 5000 with my oil and the frame one every 14000 with my oil
