Hi all, got my tuner about a month ago and love it. I went through 3 plugged DPFs in 12k miles and it was getting a bit old. Dunno if our altitude played a part of that. (10k+ ft).

Been running to 210 tune and really like it however it falls on it's face when EGTs hit 1400. Usually that's about 1/2 through passing a truck up here in the mountains. Tried the 250 tune but I don't like the way it shifts.

My questions are...

What can I do to lower my EGTs with the 210 tune? Would a cold air intake help with this?

If not, how can I get the 250 tune to shift a little better? Is there a different 210 or 250 tune available that shifts like the 210 but doesn't defuel at 1400 EGTa?

Thanks,

John

Definitely need a air intake, the shifts on the 250 are smooth imo, the only other thing you might try is water/meth it helps a bunch with keeping egts under control.

I would do an intake, CAC pipe, intercooler, and 4" downpipe before ever considering water/meth.

I run water/meth as do many others i know Fords, Dodges ext. all with ZERO problems, + LOWER egts by 50-250* I dont have the CAC/or the down pipe and the intercooler imo is a waste of money $1,200-1,400 with the possiblity of lower egts not worth it to me stock works just fine, just speeking from exerience not say it wont work I just haven't tried it

I have read that the water / meth is bad on the valves. i dont know from experience but thats just what ive read...

River City Diesel has stated that the methanol causes valve stem wear.

Thats hard to believe with the amount of vehicels (Gas, & Diesel) running it everyday!! You would think if this were ture their would be more 1 (shop/person) or whatever saying so.

I personally don't know of many 6.4's with water/meth....so it's hard to say....

a cold air intake is a must. delete dpf and cat. it allows engine to breath
