I have been BETA Testing the software from Drewtech that will let you make your own gauges (dashboard themes) for a few days now. The software has no help files at this time, so it's been hit and miss on trying to figure it out. I have figured out how to modify existing gauges. I picked the default gauge skin to start with. I've been able to move the left and right gauge (3 gauge display) to the top of the screen, change the min, & max angles for the number display and have enlarged the label area (EGRTA, MGP, EOT, etc.) Also decreased the numbers so they are in increments of 5. Still have not been able to create my own background, but with time hopefully I will. Next I will be trying to add one square block under the left and right gauges. Anyone that is interested in getting in on the BETA Group should contact Brian at the DrewTech forum. Better be pretty sharp with a computer, as it's really tough trying to figure out how everything works. Will post more after I make a little more progress.

Hey,
I'm tickled pink to let you do the BETA work. My computer skills would be overwhelmed by the issue. Appreciate you taking these type things on -- go go go.
Thanks
Jeff
I downloaded the new skin this guy created. (http://www.dashdaq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=183)
Up loaded real easy. I also created my own splash file. Although it was just a test. I will change it soon, just wanted to see if I could.
I also requested to be a part of the beta
will see!

I made a new splash screen for the dash daq.
You can get it here.

Its not a TWIN turbo engine, its a DUAL turbo engine, they are different size...thats a nice splach screen but the TWIN thing just really eats me up....not just you but everything that even has the screen name twinturbo64...etc

Nice splash screen. You gotta admit "twin turbos" roll off the tongue better and get more respect in the performance world than the "dual sequential turbos" as ford calls them!
If you want I can gladly do you a DUAL TURBO splash.
I do agree that twin sounds better. Even thought they are not the same technically speaking dual is more correct.

Trying to figure out this program is a pain in the butt. I did get a block installed under both outside gauges (3 gauge setup), but haven't tried it yet. Hopefully it will work, if not Oh well! One thing for sure, I won't give up till I figure it out, or they post directions.....

No way it can get RESPECT from someone that REALLY knows...cause its not twins...its duals...it dont matter what FORD calls them, look under the hood, they are not twins...sorta sounds like a rookie talking everytime I see/hear that.
Sorry for the rant...just gets under my skin...cause I actually am a gearhead and I like to use the right terms...

I believe if you DL the file and save it to the transfer folder on the SD card you can then grab it by doing the following....
Change Splash Screen
From gauges, click main menu. Next click setup. Scroll right/left till you get to startup splash screen. It should list the following drewtech.tga, none and maybe the one on the transfer folder. If it's listed just click it and then click save. If it's not listed I'm not sure how you get it from the SD card to the actual DD.
I hope this helps.

what firmware is that, the 1303? i think thats the newest(that im aware of)
Pahrump

1.4.2-1303 is what it says....now when it boots it just shows the boot screen, then the gauges....no error screen or should I say no spash screen....fucking little gizmo giving me shit
Mine went blank the first time I tried as well.
I turned it off re-booted and checked my settings for the splash screen. And I had not selected it correctly so I tried again and it works!
I can convert jpgs to tga files.
It can be combersome with large files. I do a small amount of graphics work. These were easy to make as I knew the proper file size it needed to be to work.
A picture of your truck would be much harder to get properly converted.

You have to import the tga file FIRST from the card.
Load to transfer folder. Go to import splash image on the DD.
Import it.
THen go to Load Splash screen or current splash screen. Select the new file and then it should work.

OOWeaver68 - You have to be smarter than the average bear! The debate is still out about you!!!!! Not really!!!!!!
Pahrump - You can change it if you want. Main Menu, setup, scroll to change splash screen, select none, drewtech,, or spartan-1.tga if you have downloaded it. You should also be able to do one of your truck. It must be a .tga file. If you don't have a program that will convert your picture, send it to me and I can convert it and get it back to you. It may not load with 1303, you may have to wait till 2.0.0-1358 is released. It's being tested right now. Your going to love the user friendly screens. Just like windows, all icon driven. Kinda different to get use to. Had to call 00Weaver68 due to the fact that I couldn't remember what other than Ford was listed under drivers. Will try to post some pictures tonight...
Tommy - The splash screen looks great!!!!

Yeah no problem its not too hard at all just remember it should be a wide picture like that one.
I would really like a big Spartan logo so I could make a nice one for that.
And some overall general good things people want to see on startup or as a background for the gauges.
Right now I am working on getting my delete pipe in... and living up the last 7 days in the states but after that I will have hours to play around with it making cool gauges.

I believe you have to be using the new version of the DashDaq update Tool, 2.0.5, and the Skin Editor version 1.0, otherwise it won't work.

mick1955, I'm just now getting around to loading the Spartan splash screen. I have done the firmware update to the latest version and have the splash screen loaded on the SD card. I have the new gauge theme loaded, looks great btw, but when I try to load the splash screen from the SD card I get a message that says "not loaded". What other tools need to be loaded on the SD card? I have all the latest downloads from DD, like the font tools, skin editor, etc. When I open the "memory card" icon on DD what should I be seeing? I only see the spartan splash screen. tga and nothing else. Thanks

Yes, he did. I would like that theme on the "night" package or at least on the gauge panel that is all digital with the one big fonted gauge in the upper left corner surrounded by 5 smaller ones. This panel is also in the neon package. What would be even better is the ability to make the fonts bigger in all the gauge packages. I don't use the analog gauges because the print is so small. If we could get the Spartan theme on these, now that would be the cat's meow!

If you want some more themes (gauges), DrewTech has some others posted on their site. You can get them from this link. There are also some video files at the bottom of the page for those that wish to edit/design gauges.

tex25025 - First you will have to update your unit with the latest firmware, 2.0.0-1364. Once you do that, go to the DrewTech site and there are some videos at the bottom of the page that will help. If you don't update your firmware, the software made by the skin editor will not work on your unit.

I got that, but what I'm wanting to tweak is the actual gauge face background. Whenever I try to do it, there is a rectangle behind the gauge instead of the transparent background in order to allow the window bitmap to show behind the gauge. It's mainly the gauge face that I'm wanting to change, but when I change that, I change something else because the background on the bitmap isn't transparent. Any ideas?
