Hi I am new here but have a question about the Spartan 6.4 tune , First from what I have researched I think the Spartan is the best on the market right now.
I have seen a lot of members are going with the 210 , 250 tune and are getting better mileage.

Honestly I don’t even need the power this beast has stock:D but it would be nice to get a little better mileage out of it.
My truck does ok now( stock tires and 3.75 re I think) at 15.5mpg highway and 14 in town. If I do careful driving I can get around 19 @ 65mph until it goes into regeneration then I go right back to a little over 15 on long trips.
I have not ordered a DD yet, it will most likely be around Christmas or after.

My question is , Do you have to go with the big tunes to get the better mileage or could I just go with the 40 or 75 tune and DFP delete?

the bigger tunes will get better mileage, ive heard, ive only ran the 250, im pretty sure the 210 and 250 tunes get better mileage due to the egr being turned off, if im wrong, somebody correct me please, i have noticed i get better mpg with the 250 than stock, if i can keep my foot out of it

So what is the lowest HP setting for shutting off the EGR?.
Honestly Im a little woried about hurting the trany with the 210.

as far as i know, the 210 is the lowest

i drive the 250 everyday, if i take off easily, you cant even tell that the truck has that much power, until it shifts, it shifts pretty hard, but it is supposed to so that makes the tranny safely handle the power, if i ran the piss out of it all the time, then i would worry but i drive it like it is a daily driver, but i aint afraid to get on it if i have to or to impress buddies

Thanks for the quick reply OOWeaver68, I will have to think it over, I dont have a problem with 210 as long as it is safe. I dont hot rod my truck and I have never pulled anything over 8500lbs.

the 210 has safety features built into it, and the 250 is very safe in my opinion if you are smart about it, i just watch my guages and dont drive it to hard for a long period of time

The 250 is safe....hell you can break a stock truck if you drive like a retard.

I agree its all how you drive. From running the 250 I get 19.7 average that's in town and hwy mixed. 10500 pounds I've towed with the 250 with no problems. Just watch guages and drive normal. I didn't calculate mileage towing though.

Is your truck ready for the nats pahrump?

These trucks are pretty smart. The transmission computer is much faster than the old 6.0's, i really think you'd have a hard time killing one of these. I rode in Josh's and it was wild. After driving easy, the transmission relaxed the shift firmness. . .then he got on it and the truck fell on it's face. The truck defueled as soon as it sensed slip. . .neither of us felt it. Next time he got on it, the shift had firmed up and the truck ran like mad. The amount of slip allowed by the computer is so small I don't think you could hurt it unless you actually wanted to. . .and even at that point i think you would have to deactivate that feature in the tuning to be able to accomplish that.

Thank you all for your comments, I feel better about the big tunes now.
it would be nice to get around 19mpg.
