I am also running 37"s and you are not off as far as you think. Only between 5 and 7 off. I will pay more attention today and give you a couple speeds. I am currently running an edge and you can plug in tire size and it give you an actuall speed.

Remember you are out a % not a speed variance. At 50 you will be out x MPH and at 100 you will be out 2x

I am running 38" Kuhmo MT's on 24" rims (14" wide) and my Speedo is out 10% (+or- 1%). At 100 kilometers and hour with the cruize on I am reading 110 on my Garmin Navigation Kenwood deck. It is kind of weird because my old 6.0L had 37" tires on 20" rims TOYO MT's and it was out 8% (+or- 1%) using a garmin hand held navigation unit.
Either way anyone who want to correct there speedo is dumb because big tires will show less miles on the truck if you ever go to sell it.
The only thing that should concern anyone is the shift points on the truck for performance and on a chipped deisel I find that because the power is at lower RPM the big tires make the truck pull harder.
I am getting 17MPG with 38" tires door to door from home to work 70% hiway 30% city

P.S. the 275 Tune runs awesome with the 38's. Thanks and good job guys!

according to my EDGE tire size adjustment with 37"X13.50" R20 at 55 Speedo actual is 59. At 60 actual is 65 and at 70 actual is 75/76.

I'm also looking forward to most off all improved shift points, the correct mph wouldn't hurt but doesn't concern me as much.;)

I had to break off from this project for work on some cold weather issues but the good news is the issues seem to have been solved which means I will be back on the tire size work probably this weekend or early next week.

It works great on my truck but after fixing the 275 issue there is now issues with the 250 race tune which I am still working on.

hopefully the tuning revisions are all complete now and they will have to time to work on this feature. Sounds like its being tested on their trucks..... so we shouldn't be that far out.

Since it's been forever waiting on the tuning problems have one of you guys wrapped up the tire size program tune:confused:
I don't mean for matt or nutty to take offense, I may have worded this wrong but I'm thinking maybe one of you guys was working on the tuning issues and the other could wrap up the tire size adjustment tune...
Nutty I know you stated you where pretty much done with the tire tune but just testing it. Would you send us big boys the tire/shift point program you created? Thanks

What gears are you running?

I'm going to change to 38s and 4.10s (from 3.73s) and by my calcs the speedo will be perfect. :D

Changing gears will not fix the speed displayed.

I am excited to see the progress on this TPMS and speedo thing.....fucking SCT just released saying that you can now adjust the speedo with they fagwire

3.73 rear ends, 4.10's would be nice but not worth the money to me.
The shift points being calculated is all we need.... Our trucks have plenty of power to roll 38's with 3.73's as long as the tranny will co-operate!
If SCT has it out what's the hold-up with Spartan? Spartan's the best:eek:

Huh? IF you changed the tires and the gears, how would the trans/computer/speedo know the difference??

That looks like you are humoring me. Do you disagree? I am not trying to start sh** or get into a "who knows more" match. There are a lot of things I don't know about these new trucks, just trying to learn.

I'll have to say I owned a 98 f150 I lifted and put 40inch swampers on and changed gears from 3.55 to 4.56 and the speedometer was only off 1mph instead of being 10 off before the gear change. I had no programmer whatsoever, it just essinctially went from 31's w/ 3.55's to 40's w/ 4.56. Fooled the computer and it drove out like stock!!!

So I say it's possible to match aftermarket tire size with gear ratio to achieve stock readings, but it's still a waste of money cause of the massive power our trucks put out, much cheaper to wait on technology to move the little needle!;)

Yeah you can get it close, not accurate..but closer than it is.

I dont need nor want gears with my truck adn th 38's, I dont want to change the way my truck drives or performs...so I will wait on the programming. If I spend money to do it I dont want it close...almost...I want it right

What is your rear end ratio now? Just curious where you are at with the 38"s. I'm at ~3.22 with my 35"s.

3.73 stock rearend.

Perfect for me

Sounds good. We are basically at the same overall ratio. I still have more than enough power to to anything I need to, and 1600rpm on the freeway is nice.

Same here...at 2000RPM I am doing 82mph via GPS...so cruising at 70-75 is nice...and I can spin the tires WOT from a roll..so its enough.

Hmmm, didn't think about it that way. Maybe I could just roll some 37s and leave the stock gears after the tire size programming comes out. Gears are expensive!! May get a mile or or 2 to the gallon with the Rs being a little lower.;)

Just a note: The gps addition to the DashDaq also shows speed. It is fairly accurate but the font is very small. I talked to Drew and he said you can't change it or make it larger. But, after you update to install your gps license, you will be able to do the following:

"When you update your DashDAQ, make sure you have the "Generic GPS" driver installed. Then assign it in the Device manager. You can now read speed on any gauge."

Regards,

Mike Bowdish

After you do this, you can assign any gauge in your theme to show your speed. It works great and appears to be pretty accurate.

Has anyone tried the Merlin Speed Wizard yet?http://www.fmdkinc.com/wiz.htm

Just alittle info. for those trucks that are running 37's or larger with 10 ply not sure about 8 ply or load d, the monitors requir 65 psi all the way around if you run 68 this will allow for temp change and you wont get a tire light on the dash. I have load e or 10 ply tires used to run 45 rear 52 front couldnt take the light anymore and I aired up to 68 the tires are actually wearing more evenly and the ride is very close to what it was not enough differance for me to even begin to complain

I'm really tired of waiting to for this one specific feature to be available.... I wonder this:
If I bought and installed the Spartan Tuning.... could I use my Hypertech Max Energy to just adjust for the different size tires?

The hypertech will not adjust past 35" tires.

harley....my old 37's were fine...I could run them at 68psi and be fine...my newer 38's are only rated for 55psi
