Well DrewTech now has 2 versions on Beta at this time. I'm getting ready to down it and will report what I find. This is what I copied from the DrewTech site:

DashDAQ-2.1.0-1414 posted

When I downloaded the new firmware it list the update as 2.1.0-1416. When you go to the set-up screen there is now a Power button, for Auto Power Off. You will have the options of selecting never, 1, 5, 20, 30, and 60 minutes. That's really the only thing I have noticed so far.

Well hooked it up to the truck, and found a few problems. First time, it only scans 253 Ford, and 31 OBDII. Then I had to change the complete signal list to 3, and it picked up 368 Ford and 31 Generic. But, EGRTA is not listed at all, under Ford or anything else. Also when it first starts scanning the OBDII it displays $41-$5F. Don't know what it means, but I will for sure get with DrewTech to have it corrected before it is released..... Getting ready to reload 2.0.1-1394. I want my egt's back.

Yes -- there are two versions in beta right now. Read the other posting if you want the safe, conservative version.

This posting is about 2.1.x which contains all the latest-and-greatest features that we've been testing in alpha. I moved this to the beta forum because I need a wider audience for testing. If you can't see this version in the update tool it's because you never posted your serial number so you're not authorized in the update tool.

Starting with new features:

* Auto-power added to setup menu, only works for GenericOBD2. You'll get an unexpected shutdown if you have this enabled but you're only reading enhanced signals.
* Buell XB9 motorcycles added support
* ChryslerSpecific fixed scaling on a lot of things including engine coolant temperature, problem entering diagnostic mode, increased P3_MIN from 3ms to 5ms
* EFI Technologies added support
* FordSpecific imported ~900 numeric and ~5000 on/off signals from the latest spreadsheet. This includes a ton of stuff for Mazda. You'll need to redo list signals and set "Complete Signal List: 3" to see the newest stuff.
* GMSpecific includes everything from the Solstice GXP testing
* GenericOBD has new operations to read Freeze Frame and I/M Readiness.
* GenericOBD has a parameter to switch between fast/full signal detection; the default (fast) is preferred for almost all vehicles. Checks O2 manually if the data looks untrustworthy.
* GenericOBD uses the fastest 6x CAN mode by default. There's a parameter to disable this if necessary.
* GenericOBD has a bunch of new signals including fuel loop open/closed. Can read Permanent DTCs. Can read lots of the new hybrid/diesel PIDs.
* GenericOBD increased # of decimal places for wideband O2, narrowband O2, and plenty of others
* GenericOBD fixes DTC reading to show whatever trouble codes it was able to read even if there was an error. Eliminated some clutter so this screen is easier to read.
* GenericOBD has a signal "OBD Network" for debugging the autodetection
* Haltech fixes MAP; it's actually a relative (gauge) pressure
* Hydra EMS added support for the 2.6 firmware, fixed scaling on some signals
* Logworks output now is synchronized to the correct timings
* Navigation software compelled us to make some changes
* SubaruSpecific got a boat-load of new vehicle-specific signals. You'll need to redo list signals.

And the bugs:

* Non-USA vehicles sensitive to ISO9141 / ISO14230 five baud init might have trouble.
* FordSpecific has no abbreviations for the new signals so it displays "Please Wait (really!)" while it's checking those. There are a lot of signals so the screen might not update for 1 or 2 minutes during the scan.
* GenericOBD has trouble reading fuel trim on CAN vehicles. Disable the 6x mode and everything works fine.
* GMSpecific shouldn't co-exist with GenericOBD; only load one or the other.
* SubaruSpecific has no abbreviations on the new signals and uses defaults for # of decimal places, minimum, and maximum. Try them out and please let me know about any scaling errors.

This is what I posted on the DrewTech forum:

DashDaq 2.1.0-1414 Problem???

Well after downloading it, I think I may have found a problem.

1. It found 368 Ford parameters. On all the other updates it picked up 285. but, exhaust gas recirculation temp sensor a (Pre-turbo egt's) is missing. Only reason I know it's missing is due to the fact that it is one of the things I monitor, and it's not displayed on the gauge, and I could not find it under Ford parameters, or anything else.

2. Under OBDII it picked up 31 signals, compared to 26 in the past. However when it starts to scan, it displays $41-$5F. At least that what it look like. It flashes so quick that I could be wrong about the $5F.

Here is the response I received:

I'm glad it found more signals total, not less. :D I'm merging everything from a new spreadsheet; the name was probably overwritten by something confusing or incorrect. I'll check on the signals that you mentioned.

That's the address block ($41-$5F) that it's currently scanning. It used to print something else because it worked differently. No worries.

Well, DrewTech came through again. They already corrected the problem with 2.1.1-1414. I reloaded the new beta firmware and EGRTA is now working. There are now 419 Ford parameters and 31 Generic. One thing that I did notice was that when I was using 2.0.0-1364 there were 39 Ford parameters that we had the option of selecting from. Using 2.1.1-1414 there are only 31 that we can select from. I left another post and will see what they come up with.

Is this update worth downloading? What is to be gained for the average Joe?

It hasn't been released to the general public yet. It's still being tested. It fixes the items listed in the post, plus you will have to use it if you plan on adding the GPS feature. There are still some bugs in it. Found 2 more last night. MGP was reading 6.4 at idle, and at 60 mph it was 101.8. It appears to be reading something other than boost. Also, Fuelpw was not working at all. I did discover that it's trying to read Fuelpw (2), and not Fuelpw (psec) as required.

Maybe its converting to Inch Pounds! I would leave it like that and take a Dodge boy your a cruise around town and ask him if he thinks your boost is a bit high? LOL

Got my GPS unit in for the DashDaq today. It's being tested and I am one of the lucky one's. So far so good. It is a little difficult to figure out at first, especially since there are no directions at this time. Sometimes you have to press the button more than once before it changes screens. Seems to work fairly well. The entire database comes on a 2 gig sd card. The GPS unit plug in back of the DashDaq using the 10 pin connector. The antenna for the unit is very small, approximately 2" x 2", and comes with about 12 ' of cable. There is approximately 500 megabyte of usable space on the card so I copied my transfer folder to it with all my tunes and other stuff. Here is a link to the pictures I took. It was getting dark, so they may be a little hard to see. Will post some larger one's later. Let me know if the linnk does not work.

Got to test the gps unit today. Everything work just like a regular hand held gps unit. You just have to get use to which buttons to use and where everything is. Kind of like getting use to the DashDaq. You can save your location to your favorite list, and recall them later, or display your current position using latitude and longitude. The voice used for guidance is very clear. It displays your speed while driving, along with your average speed. The road/highway your on is displayed at the top of the screen. You have the option of looking down on the road just like a standard gps, or you can view the road at an angle. Kinda like having a camera in a helicopter looking forward and down. You also have the option of having north always at the top of the screen or which ever way your going (track up) at the top of the screen. On the main page, where it boots up to, you will find Enter address, Points of interest, Favorites, Change routes, and Route information. Selecting the Enter address button will give you the option of Region (United States, or Canada depending on your maps), State, City, and Street. Points of interest brings up All points of interest, ATM, Entertainments, Gas stations, Sports center, Parking and resting, Harbor, Car dealership, Public transportation, Boarder crossing, Medical service, Restaurant/Nightlife, Shopping, Hotel, Tourist attraction, Community center, Rental car agency, and Business facility. Change route brings you to a page to edit routes, or Add destinations and Load/save waypoints. Route information brings up Street list, Avoid route, Go to, and Route simulation. Sometimes it hard to change the volume. Instead of bring up the volume control page, it moves the screen, so you may have to try it more than once. The only thing I have found that is annoying is that if you are moving, or stopped and make a real sharp turn it gets kinda confused and takes a while before it turns. Other times it makes a complete circle before it finally finds the road you are on. Everything else worked great. it really is very impressive. I would say it would be worth purchasing if the cost isn’t too high.
