DashDaq Help File Updated 02/14/09
Here are some directions for helping those that are having problems with getting things setup. Special thanks to Pahrump, BigIslandBoy, & for all those others that have posted on this forum! I had a lot more info, but there is a size limit on what can be posted. Any changes, please let me know. This file is for updating to 2.0.1-1394 and newer firmware updates. If your unit has an older firmware version installed, refer to the DashDaq Help File dated 09/27/08:

Installing Tunes On Your SD Card
Plug the sd card into your computer. Then create a folder on the sd card named transfer. Unzip you tunes, & copy them to the transfer folder. This is also where you will place a copy of the config file. Here’s a link to download it:

Make sure the DashDaq is powered off. Install the sd card with the gold connections facing towards you as you look at the screen. Press the card into the DashDAQ until you hear a click. Note: You will not have a copy of your stock file until after you have loaded the first tune.
Firmware Updates/ Setting up your DashDaq
Here is how to find out if you have the current firmware update. Plug it into your vehicle, while it booting up watch the screen. It will display some DrewTech stuff, then attempting to boot from internal flash, Successful. After that it will display starting DashDaq- and the firmware number. As of 02/14/09, it should be DashDAQ-2.0.1-1394. Before you update your DashDaq, it is highly recommended that you return your truck to stock. After that power down the DashDaq, and remove the sd card. You will need to install the cd on your computer. It needs to be the latest release. You can get it here:
http://www.dashdaq.com/support/downloads.htm
Vista 64 bit operating system will not work. Drewtech is aware of this problem, & a fix will be released soon. You will need to install & run the DashDaq Update tool. Be sure to remove the old version prior to installing the new one, otherwise it will not install. You can get it here:
http://www.dashdaq.com/support/downloads.htm
If you are using Windows XP, you will need to install the driver for the DashDaq, directions are in the user manual, or you can get the updated manual here:
http://www.dashdaq.com/support/downloads.htm
Windows Vista 32 bit operating system will load it automatically when it detects the DashDaq. Be sure to connect the DashDaq using the single connection on the left side of the unit. Click the DashDaq Update Tool button and it should find your unit. Highlight your unit (serial number, ready, firmware Version). Then click update firmware. After it downloads the
update, you will have to select the items that you wish to install. You must select Ford, Generic, Analog, all the gauges, & there are some free things if you want them. Do not disconnect the unit while it is being updated. When it completes the update, it will let you know that it is safe to disconnect the unit. Reinstall the sd card after it is powered off, connect it to your vehicle and it should boot up with 1364.
