With the 250 tune my transmission shifts very firm and its awesome, however, a buddy of mine who is a diesel mechanic suggested I get a shift kit put in before I tear my transmission up. I have read where Matt has been running with the stock setup with no problems, thus far. Is it a worthy investment to have on installed? Advice or direct knowledge anyone?

We have had no issues with these trucks to date. What we do in the tuning is the same as putting in a shift kit. If you do have one installed, your calibration will need adjustments as it will shift WAY too hard!

Thanks for the input! I will just stay with what you programmed, it works great!

This is something I pretty concerned about....
Is the shift firmness the same on the 210 tune as it is on the 250 tune?
Do they only shift hard when you are WOT? I drive my truck like a grandma..... just trying to get fuel economy out of it.....
I'm trying to decide which tune I want to purchase.... I don't want a tune that shifts really hard.... its just hard on the components in the long run.

normally the transmission has to (ADAPT) to how the driver drives so if you drive like a grandpa it shouldnt shift hard... if your always into the throttle the truck is going to shift harder because it learns to do so ... I assume that the modified shifting in the 210- 250 tunes would act the same ...

210 and the 250 tunes have different trans calibrations.

Actually you want a trans the shifts into gear firm... Slipping is what cause damage to the transmission, not firm shifts. You driving like a grandpa is probably doing more damage to the transmission because there isnt enough pressure to "shift" so it slips into the next gear...
