Trapit, I have a GT500(no longer stock by a long shot) along with my Superduty Spartan 250. I have to say your goal is admirable but that car is fast!!! Your buddy is going to crap when you are keeping up with him!!!I do LOVE my Superduty better though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I expect the car to be fast but the truck simply rocks because it is so unexpected. Can't wait for the 275.

It dont look hard to install, its 30-200hp I think if I remember right.

I dont really have any idea what its going to do ti my times, I have never ran the truck before, but I will be at the Diesel Nats here in about a month, and Matt said with this hot new tune I am going to need something to keep things cool.

What kind of things is he talking about to keep it cool? An intercooler? More boost? Water meth? I'm just really curious cause I want too do more stuff to mine but I'm worried about temps and especially the tranny holding up.how big of a shot of juice are you gonna hit er with?

Pahrump
09-07-2008, 10:28 AM
Nitrous....new upgraded turbo to move more ait....I would also guess that water/meth would help as well an a new intercooler...course I would not waste the time and or money on the intercooler if I was not going to fix those stupid crimped bends in the lines.

I will probably just be running the hot tune for the pulls, drags, so I just need something to keep the temps down at those times....nitrous was the easiest way to do that...$500 and your done.

I've bin trying to get a hold of matt for 3 weeks now to talk to him about more upgrades but no luck yet. Is 275 the badest new tune or are they comin out with Somethin a little more rank.and is there any programing changes with the zex kit? And what kit do you get?

Pahrump

I forget the part number, but I got the basis 35-200HP diesel single stage kit...

As far as I understand theres no different tunign for running nitrous.

And the 275 tune thats to be released in a few days I think is the hottest tune.....realize thats 275 extra HP at the WHEELS!!! thats a lot!

ohhh i realize.... but the same old story......is there really ever enough power? if thats so much scott then why are you puttin it on the juice.LOL

I don't know I can't get ahold of matt to ask him about any of this stuff. Do you guys know if you can have nitrous in the extreme cold? I'm in alberta and it gets a little chilly here in the winter.and can you get turbo upgrades from spartan to try and keep the temps down with more boost? I heard you can get the stock ones to boost a lot more with bigger shafts but I dunno. Pretty soon it will be time for head studs and gaskets if it gets to be to much thuogh I think.with a 275 tune and spray the cylinder pressure must be huge.

Yeah you can run nitrous in the cold...you will need to have a bottle warmer though. The pressure needs to be around 900psi or so if I remember right.

Its been years since I have ran N02, but I used to mess with it a good bit back in my early 20's when I was WAY DEEP into 5.0 mustangs.....course it never got REAL cold here, but in the 30's late at night...street racing, I had a nice little bottle warmer and always had the proper bottle pressure.

Do have any comments on any of that other stuff scott. Studs and gaskets? Turbo or turbo upgrades?

Pahrump
09-07-2008, 08:20 PM
I would not worry about studs or new gaskets...hell Matts pushing good power and has not blown a head gasket...as for the turbo upgrade...I am very interested in that...waiting to hear feedback on it.

What about the tranny?

Pahrump
09-07-2008, 09:58 PM
What about it?

Again, I have driven mine a good bit with the 250 tune, and Matt has beat on his for a long while with whatever hes running and he dont have any issues.

BUT...let me be clear.....I am not a racer, I like big powerful trucks...I drive mine everyday, use it for work, play, etc....

I WILL be racing at the diesel Nats in houston that are coming up...mostly just to show what the 08's can do, and to show off the Spartan tunes...That will probably be about the only time my truck will roll down the 1320 footer....

sledneck57

I'm just gonna keep beating on mine then. I'm just sick of going too the strip and the only consistantly fast trucks I've seen is dodges. I'm a ford guy and I'm pissed about it. The august blackout is just north of me and it was on the 16th. I wasn't impressed with any of the fords numbers and next year I want to be in the low 11s. I'm not a racer either and I use mine everyday but I want to push it as hard as I can. I really hope matt answers my calls soon cause he is the guy that knows how to do that

You can use it in the cold as I used to do that when I lived in Ohio. The sweet spot for the bottle PSI is 900-1000 and as long as you can keep it in that range you'll be fine using it in the cold.

I think where you'll run into issues is wit the bigger tunes (250 & up) in the cold. I read a post on one of the forums where Matt said something about them not liking the cold weather and you "might" have issues with them until the truck gets warmed up. I believe he said they will work but the truck won't be a happy camper in the beginning :).

275 that is close to double factory output. I wonder about longevity of a daily driver? I think its great but will probably not shell out the extra bucks. Yet

Scott did you get the tune loaded and the nitrous on your truck? How did you do at the nationals? And the 275 will be released this week I hear. In another forum matt said further upgrtades are highly recomended though. Being nitrous or turbo to burn all the fuel. Don't know bout you guys but I'm gettin it for sure.

I have been running the tune for a while on my truck but I don't have the nitrous fully installed yet, no time:mad:

Some people get the diesels for towing and its strength me i just want raw power, so ill be buying the 275 tune for track days etc, 250 is my daily driver. I think ill be ordering some sticks from Elite pretty soon and look at turbos in the near future for sure.

Edit: Im running both Nitrous and Injection system and spearco intercooler and have no problems keeping EGTs down, and currently working on getting that crimped pipe fixed on the inlet plenum of the IC.

What kind of injection system are you running? And how many degrees approx did the intercooler keep the temps down? I was gonna get one but I want to know how much it keeps them down first.

Thanks

GoolsbyMD,

If you find a fix for that crimped factory pipe you would be the man. Its really diappointing to look at it because it looks like an after thought. Then again if stock was so good, there would be no after market. Please keep us posted.

Me fourth
I do not even have my tuner yet but 275 sounds better than 250.......

I got a stack of HP sitting in the corner of my shop (Volant Intake and Flo Pro exhaust) but have not seen my DD yet. I got a whole Ant coliny in my Pants. I have met the UPS guy at the door everyday for the last week. I can not wait until it shows up :).
He is starting to look more and more like Santa Clause every day.

I was looking at the kinked intercooler pipes and think it would be pretty simple to get rid of them. Just a little work with the die grinder, couple pieces of tubing, and a mig. lol

I think the problem has been trying to reroute them utlizing the same circumferance piping/hose to maintain the same air displacement.
