Here are some directions for helping those that are having problems with getting things setup. Special thanks to Pahrump for starting this way back when, also BigIslandBoy for being the one to figure out that it would not work with Vista 64 bit operating system. If you see something that needs to be changed, let me know and we'll get it edited, so it will be correct. Any suggestions, bring it on, no OOWeaver68!!!
Dashdaq Tunes – Plug the sd card into your computer. Then create a folder on the sd card named transfer . Unzip you tunes. There should be 3 files, unless you also purchased the 250, or 275 tune. Once they have been unzipped, copy them to the transfer folder. Also download the DashDaq config file and place it in the transfer folder. Here’s a link to the config fille: http://spartandieseltech.com/calibra...DashDAQ.config First of all, if you have a Mac, it won’t work. Your unit may have the latest update on it, here's how to find out. Plug it into your vehicle, while it booting up watch the screen. It will display some DrewTech stuff, then attempting to boot from internal flash, successful. Watch the next two lines. I believe the second of the two will display a number. As of 9/27/08, it should be DashDAQ-1.4.2-1303. If it's not, then you will need to update the firmware. Before you update it, it is highly recommended that you return your truck to stock. After that remove the sd card, make sure the unit is powered down before removing it. You will need to install the cd on your computer (someone's computer, no Mac) Then you will need to run the Dashdaq Update tool. If you are using Windows XP, you will need to install the driver for the DashDaq, directions are in the user manual, or you can get it off the DrewTech site. Windows Vista 32 bit operating system will load it automatically when it detects the DashDaq. If it a Vista 64 bit operating system, you are screwed. Will not work on the 64 bit system. You can also download the Update Client from the DrewTech site. Go to support, then downloads (Update Client) Plug the DashDaq into the computer using the usb that is located on the left side of the DashDaq. There is only one usb on that side. Don't use the others that are located on the right side, they are for connecting other devices to the unit. Click the DashDaq Update Tool button and it should find your unit. Highlight the unit that it finds. Think it displays name, status, and serial number. Now click the check web for update button. It will probably find 2 updates. One for the operating system and one for the firmware. When it completes the update, it will let you know that it is safe to disconnect the unit. Reinstall the sd card after it is powered off, connect it to your vehicle and see if it boots up with 1303. If it doesn't, update it again. The last 3 people I helped, they had to do it twice. Don't know why, but??? Make sure you set all the high warning colors on your gauges so you will be able to see them. One more thing, BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR STOCK FILE AND TUNES. Burn them to a cd, another sd card, or flash drive, and put it in a safe place.....Don't wait to have some kind of problem, and find that your stock file is corrupted, or lost. As soon as you get the first tune loaded, (approx 35 minutes), before you drive it, power down the DashDaq, remove the sd card, and then copy your stock file to the computer. It only takes 15 minutes to switch between tunes. Go to Setup Then scroll right/left till you get to install devices You will see: a- Generic ODB2 b- Analog Input c- Analog Input d- e- etc.... Push the d- Then push Change...its in the middle at the bottom. Then push Driver. Its at the top. You will see: Chrysler Ford GM Generic Etc Push FORD Then push SAVE Then SAVE again Now go to Signal Scan, and scan. It should pick up I believe 26, and 45 Ford. Then go to the main menu.....push PARAMETERS....push the option that shows up...I think is says 0 or something, then the middle button on the bottom will highlight...then push change, and you will see a keypad, push the number "1" then save, and save. Then to go Signal Scan again.. It will scan the 26 ODB2 things...then it will scan and find like 285 Ford parameters. Config File 1-Go to the Main menu 2-Click "SetUp" 3-scroll to: install from SD card 4-click on "config file" 5-click install 6-choose "DashDAQ.config" Change Splash Screen From gauges, click main menu. Next click setup. Scroll right/left till you get to startup splash screen. Select none, or drewtech.tga. Then click save… Change Dashboard Themes (Different Gauges) From gauges, click main menu. Next click setup. Scroll right/left till you get to dashboard themes. Select default, or the one you desire to use. Make sure you change the high warning colors on all gauges to a color that you will be able to see if you do reach the high limit. Save Config File After you have all your gauges set the way you like, scroll left/right till you get to backup to sd card. Select config file. I believe it will display overwrite existing file, select yes.
