How do I update my Tuning Files?

Answer

Log into the website using your user name and password. Next go to the right side of the page and select Update Tuner. If you do not have a user name and password for the website, please email:

sales@spartandieseltech.com

We will need the following info:

Name

DashDAQ serial #

Who you purchased your tuner from?

If it was purchased from one of our dealers you will need to download the Off Road Tuning Disclaimer from our website, fill it out and fax to us at 828-692-9968. Be sure to write V4 somewhere on the bottom of the disclaimer.

If your tuner has not been converted to V2 please follow the directions above for the Off Road Tuning Disclaimer.

There is no need to return your vehicle to stock prior to upgrading your tunes.

BEFORE STARTING THIS UPGRADE WE SUGGEST THAT YOU HAVE A 1GB OR LARGER SD CARD. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE THEN WE HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU PURCHASE ONE BEFORE STARTING THIS UPGRADE.

We have found that SanDisk or Transcend usually work very well with the DashDAQ. You will need to format the sd card using the DashDAQ before copying any files to the sd card. This can be done by placing the sd card in the DashDAQ, then powering it up while it's connected to your truck. After it boots up select exit from the Gauge screen. Next go to Setup, Memory Card, and then to Format. Just follow the instructions on the screen. Once the card has been formatted power off the DashDAQ and place the sd card in your computer. You will need to create the following folders on your new sd card:

transfer

stock files

You will need to copy your stock file from your old sd card and place it inside the stock files folder on the new sd card. You will also need to copy everything that's inside the transfer folder on the old sd card into the transfer folder on the new sd card.

***** Standard Spartan Phananx Console *****

***** Files last Updated 11/16/11 *****

Select the set of file that you wish to download. The first two set of files are for those with the stock tcm. You will have two options to select from. The first (PhalanxUpdate400.exe) are the regular tunes which includes early and late lock up files. It has 57 files and the size of the tuning files folder once uncompressed will be 195MB.

The second (PhananxUpdate400NEGR.exe) is for those that have blockoff plates or the complete egr system deleted on their truck, or for those that just want to run egr delete tunes all the time. . It also includes early and late lockup files.  All of these tunes will be egr delete. It has 47 files and the size of the tuning files folder once uncompressed will be 160MB.

DO NOT UNCOMPRESS BOTH SETS OF FILES. If you do it will merge the regular tunes with the negr tunes, but only one set of tunes will be displayed when you try to load a tune on your truck. This is because each set of files (PhananxUpdate400.exe & PhanlanUpdate400NEGR.exe) has its own index file. When you merge the two files together it overwrites the index file inside the tuning files folder.

*****IF YOU DID NOT PURCHASE OUR TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, A $699 OPTION THEN PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD THESE FILES *****

***** Spartan Transmission Module *****

***** Files Last Updated 04/08/11 *****

For those that have the Spartan Transmission Control Module on the truck, you will need to download these files.

If you already have a tuning files folder on the sd card please delete it at this time.

Select the set of files that you wish to download, and save them to your computer. Next right click on the file that you just downloaded and select copy. Go back to the sd card, and on a blank spot right click and select paste. After the file has been copied to the sd card double click on the file to uncompress it. It should display "Click Ok to Update Spartan Tuning Database". Click Ok. During this process it will create a tuning files folder on your sd card, and will extract the tunes into the folder. After that you're ready to load a tune on the truck.

NOTE: These tunes will only work if you have the V2 software installed. If you don't then you will need to send in a request to update your unit.

Do not mix the old tuning files with the new as some of the file will not work.

Do not rename the Tuning Files folder. If you do the DashDAQ will not be able to pick up any of the tuning files.
